Terminal Arrival Areas
(TAA)
Aviation technology is constantly
evolving and to help take advantage of this increased
precision, effective 12 Oct 2005, Canada has adopted TAA
procedures. TAA procedures have been widely used in the
U.S. for several years now and they will now be slowly
integrated into the NavCanada approach inventory.
This article discusses what TAAs are, how
to identify them and how to fly them, both in the U.S. and in
Canada.

VFR Flight
into the U.S.
Our borders to the south are not as open as
one might think. In fact, since September, 2001, strict
rules have been in place which govern the conduct of VFR
flight operations into and within U.S. Airspace.
So, before you start heading south, make sure you're up on
these procedures...

ILS
Safety
The Instrument
Landing System (ILS) approach has been a mainstay within the
IFR environment for decades. But certain
malfunctions of the ILS and its associated equipment can lead
an unsuspecting pilot to a fiery death. An encounter with
a false glide path, a false localizer capture, or, worst of
all, an erroneous glide slope doesn’t happen often, but it
happens often enough that you should know about
it.
